Defensive line pushes past the line of scrimmage

This last weekend the Northville Stallions Freshman team had a real challenge. Not only the cold weather condition but also the Braves turned out to be quite tough. Nevertheless, our team took home a great 25:6 victory over Walled Lake.

In the starting quarter, the Orange Crush team hold the Braves to a very good 0-0 tie with big tackles by Logan Toomey and Michael Stefani. Afterward, the Black Offense scored the first points of the game by runs from Ryan Jaafar and the TD run from Jurek Nowakowski. Inspired by that the Black Offense stopped the Braves w/ a big tackle by Ryan Richardson and a football recovery by Andrew Shukeireh. In the next effort, our White Offense was stopped by the Braves and we turned the ball over on downs. However, we returned the favor and got a turnover on downs after tackles/stops by Ryan Jafaar, Jurek Nowakowski and Leo Link. So the White Offensive took over and got the ball close to the end zone. After a facemask call by the officials on the Braves, the Black Offense took over. Following a run by Jurek Nowakowski Aiden Kersey scored the next 6 points by another TD-run, the extra point effort was no good.

The Braves took over and even though Anton Hildebrandt had a big tackle on first down, with the second down the Braves scored a TD on a 50yrd run. A little shocked but still staying strong our defense prevented the extra point with Ryan Jaafar pushing out the running back before reaching the end zone.

Eager to show the Braves who is the better team our Black Offensive scored a TD the next possession. Andrew Shukeireh, Jurek Nowakowski and Aiden Kersey run the ball close the end zone and Aiden Kersey scored running the ball again. Even though a false start pushed us back we scored the extra point by another run from Jurek Nowakowski making it 19-6. The next attempt by the Braves to score was crushed by our team. Defensive plays from Ryan Schuckel, Brayden Sparks and Jurek Nowakowski forced the Braves in the last effort before halftime to throw the ball but it was intercepted by Aiden Kersey.

With the start of the second half, the Black Defense continued to stay strong. Anton Hildebrandt, Ryan Jaafar, Ryan Schuckel, Zachary Slagle and Aiden Kersey had big defensive plays to stop the Braves again. In our next possession, the offensive effort led to no points as the Braves made some defensive stops. But again the Black Defense returned the favor. Stops by Anton Hildebrandt, Zachary Slagle, Ryan Schuckel, and Ryan Jafaar got us the ball back. Now it was our White Offense that moved the ball deep into the Braves territory. A big run by Aiden Kersey was stopped by the Braves w/ a hard tackle which led to an injury time-out. After a couple of plays, Aiden Kersey returned into the game and threw the ball to Anton Hildebrandt who run for a first down close to the end zone. With the next play, Aiden Kersey runs for another TD making the score 25-6. The extra point attempt of our Purple Offense was not successful. At the end of the game, it was up to our Black Defense again to stop the Braves which the boys did in outstanding fashion.

Thanks to all the parents and supporters who showed up despite the weather giving our team also the advantage in the seats.

With two very good away wins the whole team is now looking forward to the first home game against the Livonia Falcons next Sunday at Tom Holzer Field.
