Stallions Freshman Blank the Gators to Remain Undefeated

The Stallions traveled to Walled Lake Northern on September 23 to take on the Multi-Lakes Gators. The Stallions earned their third shutout of the season, beating the Gators 38-0.

Orange Crush got the Stallions off to a quick start, with #10 Jurek Nowakowski returning the opening kickoff for a touchdown. After missing the extra point, the Stallions were up, 6-0.

On the ensuing Gators’ offensive possession, #20 Nick Lundberg and #65 Chase Gilbertson worked together on an eight-yard tackle for loss, followed by a Gators fumble recovered by #65 Gilbertson. #28 Evan George picked up 7 yards, followed by a 1-yard gain by #27 Ryan Richardson.

After the Black Line came in, #5 Ryan Jaafar picked up a first down, followed by a touchdown by #8 Cooper Derkach. #1 Zane Ader got the extra point, giving the Stallions a 13-0 lead.

The Stallions forced a turnover on downs on the next Gators’ offensive possession after a huge tackle for loss by #1 Ader. #24 Tyler Shelide helped the Stallions take advantage, quickly scoring a touchdown, followed by an extra point by #25 Austin McGarrow to put the Stallions up 20-0.

#38 Mitchell McKellar stopped a big return on the Stallions’ kickoff, which was followed by tackles by #4 Justin Minard and #23 Aiden Kersey, eventually forcing another turnover on downs. The Gators and Stallions traded the next couple of possessions, until the Stallions got the ball back at the 22 yard line. A #14 Nic Slagle rushing touchdown was negated by a penalty, followed a few plays later by a touchdown pass by #14 Slagle to #23 Kersey. After missing the extra point, the Stallions had a 26-0 lead.

#6 Andrew Shukeireh had a touchdown-saving tackle on the kickoff, and a few plays later the Stallions took their 26-0 lead into halftime.

Orange Crush was on defense to start the second half. #27 Richardson tackled the kickoff returner, followed by a tackle for loss by #20 Lundberg and #65 Gilbertson and another tackle for loss by #20 Lundberg and #27 Richardson. These plays forced another turnover on downs, giving Orange Crush their second offensive possession of the game. #27 Richardson picked up a quick six yards before Orange Crush left the field.

After trading turnovers on downs again, #27 Richardson picked up nine yards, then picked up a first down. #14 Slagle then raced for a touchdown. A missed extra point gave the Stallions a 32-0 lead.

The Gators made it to the red zone on their next possession, with #23 Kersey tackling the kickoff returner at the five-yard line. The Gators were unable to get on the board though, after tackles for loss by #32 Nolan Toomey, #14 Slagle, and #33 Leo Link forced another turnover on downs.

#25 McGarrow had a huge carry for about 40 yards on the next offensive possession, followed by a #14 Slagle touchdown pass that was negated by a penalty. After turning the ball over to the Gators, a pick-six by #18 Colin Stankovic sealed the shutout and resulted in the final margin of victory of 38-0.
