September 10, 2017: Stallions (26) at Blue Jays (25)

The Northville Stallions flag team had everyone at Bentley Field on the edge of their seats, as they roared back for a 26-25 victory over the Livonia Blue Jays. After giving up two long TD runs in the first two quarters, Northville got on the board after a 55 yard TD run by Gustavo Libreros. The Stallions made a huge defensive stand at the end of the 1st half, led by Drew Meussner and Zac Slagle, to keep the score at 12-7 Blue Jays. After another long TD run by Livonia, Colin Richardson scored on a rushing TD, and Charlie Stoops weaved his way through the defense for the extra point, to make the score 18-15 Blue Jays.

The teams traded touchdowns, with Zac Slagle scoring a TD run in the 5th quarter. At the start of the 6th quarter, Zac Slagle and Erik Brown pulled flag after flag to stop the Blue Jays on 4th down and force a turnover. Northville used several long runs by Brody Domeracki, capped off with another Zac Slagle rushing TD with 1 minute on the clock to give Northville a 26-25 lead. The Blue Jays had one last gasp, driving the ball to the 20-yard line. However, the defense stood tall, led by Drew Meussner's 11 flags, and stopped the Blue Jays on one final play to secure the Stallions first victory of the season.

The young Stallions look to ride the momentum into next weeks showdown with the Commerce Chargers at Tom Holzer field.
