The soggy conditions on Saturday, October 14 did not stop our beloved Freshman Stallions from continuing their winning streak against the Walled Lake Braves!

During the developmental period, the Stallions advanced the ball with carries from both Declan McGrail and Paxton Mehram.  The wet weather caused a fumble on the play, but thankfully it was recovered by the Stallions.  Parth Khullar also had a carry which gained yards for the Stallions; however, the Braves were stopping the Stallions from a touchdown.  The Stallions were able to keep the ball on offense the entire period but were unable to make it into the end zone.

In the start of the first quarter, Rhys Granger received the kick return but was tackled by a Brave.  The slippery ball created another fumble, which was quickly recovered by Harrison Buie. There were carries by Eli Crowe, Will Deller, and Rhys Granger; however, they were quickly stopped by the Braves and resulted in a turnover in downs.  On the Braves first offensive attempt, they were stopped by Willy D and Gabe Colemen. Another fumble on the play was recovered by Brody Tomasaitis for a Stallions possession.  Runs by Zach Shoucair and Eli Crowe gained yards for the Stallions but they could not get past the relentless defensive of the Braves.  The end of the first quarter the score was 0-0.

In the second quarter, the Stallions black offense was able to find a way around the Braves defense. Eli Crowe had successful runs along with Zach Shoucair and Willy D.  An offsides call against the Braves allowed for the Stallions to advance to a first down.  A quarterback keep play for Eli Crowe allowed him to fly into the end zone for a touchdown for the Stallions!  Eli Crowe also made his way through the defense into the end zone for the extra point bringing the score to Stallions 7, Walled Lake Braves 0.

Immediately after the kickoff, the Braves fumbled the ball again which was recovered by Zach Shoucair for the Stallions' ball! Willy D attempted to run the ball, but was continuously stopped by the Braves. When there was a change of possession of the ball, the Stallions defense stopped the Braves with tackles from Eli Crowe, Gabe Coleman, and Willy D.  However, the Braves player was able to make a run for it into the end zone with the extra point scored as well for a tie game of 7-7. The Stallions had an attempt to score before the half; however the Braves were able to hold them off so the score at the end of the first half was Stallions 7 Braves 7.

In the developmental period at the start of the 2nd half, the Braves development team started with a fumble on their first possession which was recovered by Parth Khullar.  Runs from Paxton Mehram advanced the ball.  Then when Declan McGrail was running the ball, his team blocked phenomenally for him allowing him to run into the end zone for a Stallions touchdown.  Wahoo!!

On the Braves first possession in the fourth quarter, players were tackled by Jack Rimmell and Eli Crowe.  On the third down, there was a fumble on the play which was recovered again by the Stallions!  Carries by Eli Crowe, Rhys Granger, and Zach Shoucair advanced the ball.  On the third down, Eli Crowe used his speedy legs and agility to run the ball into the end zone for a Stallions touchdown.  Willy D was stopped just short of the end zone for the extra point. The score was now Stallions 13, Walled Lake Braves 7.  With the slippery conditions, the Braves were struggling to hang onto the ball, and there was another fumble on the play which was recovered again by Rhys Granger for a Stallions possession.  There were some flags on the upcoming plays with a personal foul facemask call against the Braves.  On the third down, Eli Crowe completed a long pass to Rhys Granger; however, it was just two yards shy of a first down.

It was a turnover of downs and the Braves had the ball on our 10 yard line.  There was another fumble on the play in the end zone and Brody Tomasaitis sealed the deal with a recovery touchdown.  The extra point attempt by Zach Shoucair was no good, but the Stallions were now leading 19 to 7.

The remainder of the fourth quarter the Stallions’ defense was able to fight off the Braves and did not allow any more points.  It was an exciting wet, soggy game against the toughest competition yet.

The Freshman Stallions will be heading into playoffs in two weeks with a record of 7-0.  Who are we?  The unstoppable Stallions! Can’t wait to see this team’s success continue into the playoffs!
