The Freshman Stallions continue their winning streak with a 28 to 6 win against the Garden City Cougars on Saturday Sept. 16, 2023. It was a beautiful fall afternoon for football and our Stallions team sure did give the fans a lot to be proud of.

To start the game, the mighty Orange Crush squad came out and stopped the Cougars in many different possessions.  Noah Mahmoud completed a tackle that resulted in a turnover on downs.  Attempts were made on offense and while the Orange Crush advanced the ball, the Cougars stopped them from scoring a touchdown.

In the beginning of the first quarter, the Garden City Stallions had possession of the ball first.  There was a fumble on the second possession and the Stallions' Logan Badour recovered the ball! On the first offensive play, quarterback Eli Crowe kept the ball and had an amazing run, dashing through many Cougars to run the ball into the end zone for a Stallions touchdown!  Ethan Stefani carried the ball into the end zone for the extra point, advancing the Stallions in a 7-0 lead. The Stallions defense dominated Garden City with stops by Alex Simpson and Eli Crowe, resulting in a turnover on downs.

Stallions had the ball again and Eli Crowe made a long pass to Rhys Granger who made an amazing catch, resulting in another Stallions touchdown.  Another extra point pass was completed to Zach Shoucair and the Stallions prevailed again with the extra point.  The score was now 14-0, Stallions!  The Garden City offense could not get through the Stallions tough defense, and at the end of the first quarter the score was 14 to 0, Stallions.

In the start of the second quarter, Garden City had possession of the ball.  There was a fumble on the play which was recovered by Harrison Buie.   Both Willie D and Zach Shoucair had carries that resulted in added yards for the Stallions.  Then with a quarterback keep play, Eli Crowe was able to use his crazy legs to run 17 more yards into the end zone for another Stallions’ touchdown!  Crowe threw the extra point pass to Jack Rimmel, who completed it successfully for another Stallions point after touchdown. On the Cougars possession, a cougar weaved through our defense only to be stopped by Ben Johnson!   On the next play, the Cougars were able to get through our defense and make their way to the end zone, for a Cougar touchdown.  Their extra point was stopped; therefore the score was 21-6, Stallions.  Don’t be fooled however as Eli Crowe picked up the kick, returned and ran the ball all the way into the end zone to answer back to the Cougars.  Zach Shoucair successfully made it into the end zone for the extra point, bringing the score to 28-6.  The Cougars were not able to answer back so at the end of the first half, the score was 28-6, the Stallions.

The second half was a little less exciting on both sides of the field. Orange crush fumbled at the beginning of the development period and the ball was recovered by Garden City.  The crush defense was able to hold off the Cougars.

In the third quarter, Connor Frescoln and Finn O’Brien had carries, but the Cougars defense was able to stop them.  It became a back and forth game of possessions, with each defense holding off the offensive side.  Neither side had any other big offensive plays.  The final score of the game was 28-6, Stallions coming out on top again!

Awesome effort by all of the Freshman Stallions! The Stallions will look to keep their winning streak alive on Sunday with a home game against the Livonia Eagles!
