Stallions Flag Defeats the Livonia Falcons

The Stallions football team traveled to Bentley Field to take on the reigning league champion, Livonia Falcons. Our Stallions came out with the shootout victory sealing the win in the final minutes of the game. 

The 1st quarter saw both teams trading long touchdown runs ending in Livonia being on top 14-13 when the horn sounded. The 1st drive was capped by a 35 yard TD run from #16 Harrison Katarski. Livonia responded with a 60 yard TD run from #20. Our 2nd drive saw nice runs from #23 Arthur Horton and #5 Jacob Vigna, setting up a 30 yard TD run from #16 Harrison Katarski. 

The 2nd quarter started off with a bang when #14 Abraham Frazier took a left side handoff 60 yards for a TD on the 1st play. Extra point no good making the score 19-14, Stallions on top. The Stallions' D fought hard on the next Livonia possession, led by a TD saving tackle from #12 Wesley Schulmeister and a stop in the backfield by #14 Abraham Frazier. Unfortunately, the Livonia RB slipped through on 4th down for a 23 yard TD run. 21-19 Livonia. #20 Brennan Devitt came right back taking a sweep 60 yards for a TD and also converting on the extra point. Stallions led 26-21 ending the quarter.

The Stallions started the 3rd quarter on Defense, where they came up big forcing a 4 down turnover from the Falcons. Stallions #22 Franco Brown made a 60 yard house call on the 2nd play of the drive capped by an emphatic Gronk-Like spike in the endzone. #19 Caden TenBroeck tacked on the extra point for a 33-21 Stallion lead. The Stallions D weathered a 10 play Falcon drive when #19 Caden TenBroeck had a drive stopping tackle to end the half.

The 4th quarter started on D where #5 Jacob Vigna had a TD saving tackle, only to see the Falcons #17 go for a 40 yard TD run with a good extra point making it 33-28 Stallions. #23 Arthur Horton had a nice run on 4th down but was stopped just short turning the ball over on downs. #16 Harrison Katarski tracked a Falcon down 40 yards across the field on a TD saving tackle, but the effort couldn't keep the Falcons out of the endzone making it 34-33 Falcons. #5 Jacob Vigna ripped off a 40 yard run taking the ball down to the 20 yard line to end the quarter. 

The 5th quarter kicked off with #3 Luca Ghannam with some fancy footwork in the backfield to produce a 5 yard run out of nothing. Two plays later #20 Brennan Devitt punched it in from 12 yards out. Extra point no good, 39-34 Stallions with 6:10 left in the quarter. #3 Luca Ghannam made 2 nice stops prior to #20 on the Falcons breaking through for a 38 yard TD run. Extra point good, 41-39 Falcons. #14 Abraham Frazier immediately answers with a nice cut back resulting in a 60 yard TD run. Extra point good, 46-41 Stallions. #3 Luca Ghannam showing out on D again with a nice diving tackle, only to see #20 weave through multiple diving defenders for a TD. Extra point no good, 47-46 Falcons with 2:06 left. Runs by #20 Devitt, #12 Schulmeister, and #14 Frazier got the ball down to the 26 yard line to end the quarter. 

The 6th quarter saw #19 Caden TenBroeck say 'Hold my Water Bottle' as he took over the game. Starting 4th down on the 26 yard line, a Stallions offside penalty saw the ball get pushed back to the 31 yard line. #19 TenBroeck said no problem, taking the QB keeper 31 yards for a TD and also running in the extra point giving the Stallions a 53-47 lead. #19 TenBroeck made 4 consecutive tackles forcing a Falcons turnover on downs. The ensuing drive saw #19 TenBroeck rip off a 64 yard TD run after a running play was stopped for a loss. #22 Franco Brown pin-palled off defenders ultimately converting the extra point. 60-47 Stallions with 3:01 left in the game. The Stallions D came up big, halting the Falcons chances for a comeback after a sack by #22 Franco Brown and 2 more tackles from #TenBroeck, before seeing an incomplete pass ending the game.
