JV Stallions Beat the Livonia Falcons

The Livonia Falcons hosted the Northville Stallions at Bentley Field on Saturday, September 9, 2023. The Stallions had their second win of the season with a final score 8-29.

The development team started the game with a lot of heart but neither team was able to make it to the end zone. The first quarter began with kickoff to the Falcons. The Northville defense forced a punt which was returned by Liam Crowe (#7). Ashtyn Kersey (#23) then ran for a touchdown making the score 0-6. Ryan Spadafora (#12) had a good kick taking the score to 0-8. The defense then again held off the Falcons from scoring with a tackle by Jack Beresford (#17), for a Falcons loss of 3 yards and a punt to the Stallions. The Stallions next possession had both gains and losses, but they ultimately gained more points. Liam Crowe (#7) ran for a touchdown, ending the first quarter with a score 0-14.

The second quarter started with a turnover on downs to the Stallions. Liam Crowe (#7) ran the ball, breaking through tackles with an incredible reach that was just short of the goal line. The next play was a fumble by the Stallions which the Falcons recovered. The Falcons threw the ball which was intercepted by David Christensen (#14). Liam Crowe (#7) ran to the end zone, but the play was called back and the Stallions were unable to score, turnover on downs. End of first half: 0-14.

The Stallions development team were in possession of the ball for the beginning of the second half. Pass complete to Rylan Brown (#43), who ran for a Stallions first down. The boys gave it their all but were unable to make it to the end zone.

The third quarter kickoff was returned by Owen Hoff (#13). Liam Crowe (#7) passed to Ryan Spadafora (#12) for a touchdown. The kick by Ryan Spadafora (#12) was good for 2 points, bringing the score 0-22. The Falcons offense
were ready to come back. They struggled through an attempted sac and completed a pass to get their first down. The Falcons drove down the field. At third and goal, the Falcons fumbled the snap, but recovered to make their first touchdown of the game. The kick was good, bringing the score to 8-22. Lucas Stefani (#10) returned the kick to the 50 yard line for the end of the third quarter and the score remaining 8-22.

The Stallions were facing 3rd and long at the beginning of the fourth quarter which resulted in a turnover. The Falcons offense threw a pass that was intercepted by Ryan Spadafora (#12), but a call on the field gave the ball back to the Falcons for their third down. The next pass by the Falcons was intercepted by Ashtyn Kersey (#23). With the Stallions on offense, Jack Beresford (#17) ran down the field with a large gain in yards. With minutes left and the Stallions facing 2nd and 16; a pass was complete to Ryan Spadafora (#12) for a Stallions touchdown. Owen LaVaute’s (#30) carry was good for the extra point bringing the score to 8-29. With Falcons on offense and the 47 yard line, they fumbled the ball and it was recovered by the Stallions. But, a face mask penalty returned the ball to the Falcons and pushed them 15 yards further up the field. 1st and 10, the Falcons pass was incomplete and a close interception by Ashtyn Kersey (#23). The close of the game was the Falcons final pass that was intercepted by Blaise Pewinski (#18).

Final score: Livonia Falcons 8, Northville Stallions 29.
