Stallions Flag Beats Livonia Blue Jays 39-33

The 2023 season kicked off Saturday, August 26th at Tom Holzer Field. Stallions Flag battled for their first win against the Livonia Blue Jays with a final score of 39-33.

In the first few minutes of the game, the Blue Jays ran for a touchdown and a completed conversion. The Stallions countered with a long run by Arthur Horton (#23) and Harrison Katarski (#16) capping the drive with a touchdown and conversion. Livonia finished off the first quarter scoring with a long touchdown and a score of 13 to 7 at the first intermission.

The Stallions owned the second quarter, kicked off by #14 Abraham Frazier’s
touchdown run on 4th down and forever. Brennan Devitt (#20) punched in the extra point. A strong defensive effort stalled the Blue Jays next drive, including a diving flag grab by Wes Diebolt (#79). The quarter came to an end after another chunk play by Frazier, putting the Stallions into the red zone, with the score 14-13 Stallions. Set up for success, Caden Ten Broeck (#19) completed the drive with a touchdown, but no conversion for the Stallions. The Blue Jays quickly retaliated with a touchdown on a long run, failed conversion. Northville responded with the drive of the game. A methodical, quarter eating drive with Franco Brown (#22) punching it in for the final points of the third, ending it at 26-19 Stallions.

Coach Vigna’s boys battled through a defensive fourth quarter, keeping the Blue Jays off the scoreboard, but also unable to tally any points of their own. Score remains 26 to 19 Stallions.

Quarter number 5 started with Livonia scoring a short TD and conversion to tie the game. Pushing right back, Frazier (#14) scores on a 30-yard run, with Devitt (#20) once again converting the extra point. Other ball carries during the fifth by Frazier (#14), Lucca Ghannam (#3) and Wes Schulmeister (#12) helped advance the team. This brought out the quick strike Blue Jay offense that scored another long touchdown, with a conversion that just squeaked in, ending the quarter in at tie 33-33.

Hungry for the win, Stallions set up Ten Broeck (#19) for a running touchdown to start the final quarter. A couple great defensive stops by Brown (#22) and Ten Broeck (#19) held Livonia off the scoreboard, ending the game with a final score of 39-33 Stallions!
