Stallions Flag Beats Garden City Cougars

On Saturday morning September 17, the Northville Stallion flag football team returned to action looking to capitalize after a week 2 victory. The home team, the Garden City Cougars made every effort to stop the Stallions.

The Stallions received the opening kickoff after a deferral from the Cougars. The Stallions immediately capitalized with a 46 year touchdown run by Paxton Mehram. PAT for 2 points was successful with a pass from Paxton Mehram to Andrew Paulson. The first period ended with the Stallions scoring 8 points, and the Cougars scoring 0.


With the Cougars marching deep into Cougar territory at the beginning of the 2nd period, the Stallions defense stayed resilient. Although a valiant effort, the Cougars scored a touchdown. PAT was good for 1 point. Score was 8-7, Stallions lead. The Stallions immediately found success with Zach Douglas scoring a touchdown on a 55 yard run. PAT was good with a run by Caden TenBroeck. Score was 15-7, Stallions.


The Cougars found immediate success on a 60 yard run. PAT was good for 1 point. Score was Stallions 15, Cougars 14. Upon the next possession, Emmett Goerke capitalized on a 27 yard run on the first play of the series. On the next possession, Caden TenBroeck dodged several Cougar defenders and found the endzone with a 23 yard run for a touchdown. Notable blocks by Abraham Frazier and Franco Brown. PAT was good with a 5 yard run by Harrison Katarski.
Score was Stallions 22 to Cougars 14. 2nd period ended with this score.


The 3rd period started with a 45 yard run by the Cougars down the to 1 yard line deep in Stallions territory. Touchdown by number #4 Daniel Mackee of the Cougars made the score 20-22, Stallions. PAT was intercepted by Declan McGrail.
Stallions immediately responded with a 60 yard run by Connor Frescoln. PAT was good for 2 with a pass from Connor Frescoln to Sully Horgan. Declan McGrail came through with an important flag pull with 41 seconds left in the half. Cougars called a timeout. Cougars turned the ball over. With 30 seconds left on the clock, the Stallions attempted to capitalize. 58 yard run to end the half by Connor Frescoln. PAT was not good. First half ended with the Stallions 36-20.

The second half began with a Cougar possession. Caden TenBroeck stopped a 55 yard run with a flag pull on the 5 yard line. Cougars scored on a 5 yard run. PAT was good for 2 points. Score was 28-36, Stallions. Luca Ghannam carried the ball 2 yards on the first play of the series. Paxton Mehram successfully received a first down on the next carry on a 18 yard run. 2 plays later, Paxton scored on a 26 yard run. Caden TenBroeck scored on the PAT after. Score was 43-28, Stallions. 4th period came to a close.

The 5th Period started with the Cougars on the 45 yard line in Stallions territory. After a valiant effort by the Stallions Defense, the Cougars scored on a 3 yard run. PAT was good, making the score 35-43, Stallions.  The next series began and ended with a 60 yard touchdown run by Caden TenBroeck. PAT was good with a quarterback sneak by Brant Stachura. Score was 50-35.

The 6th period started with a Cougar possession at the 50 yard line. A long Cougar run for a first down to the 30 yard line. Andrew Paulson stopped a run with a great flag pull on the 28 yard line. Series ended in a touchdown. PAT was no good. Score was 50-41. 2nd play in the new series was a 64 yard run by Connor Frescoln. PAT by James Michalsen was good for an additional point. 57-41 was the score. Cougars scored a touchdown on the last play of the game, PAT was good for 2 points. Final score was 49-57, Stallions bringing home the victory.
The Stallions worked hard to bring their record to 2-1. Next week, the Stallions host the Novi Bobcats on Saturday at 9:00 AM at Tom Holzer stadium.
