Stallions Flag defeats Walled Lake Braves 33–12

The sun broke through the cloudy sky on a damp Tom Holzer field Sunday which proved to be a good omen for the Northville Stallions.

The Stallions got off to a hot start when Al Altwal returned the opening kickoff inside the 10 yard line setting up first and goal. On the very next play Ashtyn Kersey punched it in the end zone to give the Stallions a quick lead 6-0. Lucas Stefani made a nifty cut back on a QB keeper to tack on the extra point. When the Braves got the ball for their first possession the Stallions played stifling defense forcing a 4 and out.

On the next drive for the Stallions Ashtyn Kersey made a series of sweet juke moves on his way to the end zone for his second TD. Again, Lucas Stefani converted the extra point.

After the Stallions defense hung tough once again, Anthony Salerno took it the house with Moritz Hildebrandts tacking on the extra point to give the Stallions a 21-0 heading into the locker room at halftime.

The Braves must have received an inspirational pep talk at halftime because they took the second half kickoff and drove the length of the field to put the Braves on the scoreboard; however, the Stallions held strong denying the extra point resulting in a 21-6 score.

The Stallions answered on their next possession when Anthony Salerno scored on an electrifying 47 yard gallop putting the Stallions back up by 21 points. Moritz Hildebrandt led a tough Stallion's defense to stop the Braves on their next drive.

On their next possession, a dazzling long run by Braden Toomey was brought back because of a penalty; however, on the very next play the Stallions aired it out connecting on their longest pass of the day for a TD to Wills Theisen giving the Stallions a 33-6 lead.

However, the resilient Braves would not go away scoring a touchdown to cut the Stallions lead to 33-12 which would be the final score. Their first win of the season evens the Stallions record at 1-1 heading into their match-up next week with the cross-town rival Colts.
