The JV Stallions started the season strong with a shutout win at home over the Livonia Blue Jays, 33-0.

The Stallions’ first score came from #25 Austin McGarrow, after the Stallions recovered a Blue Jays’ fumble. A missed extra point left the score 6-0.

Early in the second quarter, the Stallions scored off a blocked punt. #1 Zane Ader blocked the punt and #23 Aiden Kersey took it in for the score. After an extra point by #10 Jurek Nowakowski, the score was 13-0 Stallions.

#14 Cooper Derkach completed a pass to #5 Ryan Jaafar for the Stallions’ third touchdown of the day with 3:55 left to go in the second quarter. #30 Brody Grezak tacked on another two points by kicking a two-point conversion, giving the Stallions a 21-0 lead. The Stallions got the ball back quickly on a #23 Kersey interception but would not score again before halftime.

After halftime, the offense continued racking up points, despite the Stallions having to pull-card their top eight players during offensive drives due to the 18+ point advantage. #10 Nowakowski had a long run for a touchdown with 0:48 left in the third quarter, giving the Stallions a 27-0 lead.

#3 Drew Bandilla recovered a fumble early in the fourth quarter and the Stallions scored again a few plays later on a third-down scamper by #41 Nathan Brohl. The extra point was no good, leading to the final score of 33-0.

On defense, the Stallions were extremely stingy, giving up very few first downs and no points. #12 Dylan Young, #21 Ryan Schuckel, #24 Shelide, #30 Grezak, and #41 Brohl all had tackles for loss, along with numerous team tackles for loss and numerous individual tackles.

On special teams, #24 Shelide recovered the Stallions’ first two kick-offs, using his speed to make up for the recent elimination of onside kicks in the first three quarters of JV games.

The Orange Crush line also acquitted themselves well. During the first-half developmental game, the Stallions recovered a Blue Jays’ fumble. #19 Collin Kenneally had a huge gain off of a reverse from #11 Koen Raitz, but time ran out before Orange Crush could convert the turnover into points.

#20 Nick Lundberg had a long run during the second-half developmental game. A couple of plays later, #6 Andrew Shukeireh recovered the Stallions’ own fumble and zig-zagged in for a touchdown. The extra point was no good, giving Orange Crush a 6-0 advantage. The Blue Jays had the ball again briefly, before fumbling it away to #27 Ryan Richardson.

The Stallions return to action at home on Sept. 15 against the Walled Lake Braves.
