Events

Players and cheerleaders participate in the following events during the season:

NYFA Parent Orientation: All parents are strongly encouraged to attend this informational meeting.  This is a great opportunity to ask questions and meet your child's coach as well as other NYFA staff.

NYFA Football Camp: This evening camp, typically in July, is non-contact and focuses on speed, agility, and position specific drills to get the boys ready for practices.  Although participation is not required, it is highly encouraged.  Instruction is provided by our own NYFA coaches.

Colts v. Stallions ScrimmageThis "Battle-for-the-Shoe" preview is a great opportunity for our players and cheerleaders to put what they have learned in practice to the test! All 4 units match up to scrimmage while the cheerleaders practice their sideline cheers. This weeknight event takes the place of one regular practice in August.

Colts / Stallions Homecoming: This home game includes special touches and recognition for players, cheerleaders, and parents.

NHS Homecoming Tailgate: We are fortunate to partner with the Northville Football Parents Association (NFPA) on this event to celebrate the Northville High School homecoming game. NFYA families are invited to attend this pre-game meal, watch the homecoming parade, and then cheer on the NHS Mustangs in their homecoming game.

Cheer for a Cure: Cheer for a Cure is an official charity of cheerleading established in 2005. The Colts and Stallions cheerleaders have been a part of this annual event to show support and help raise awareness for breast cancer. This event is held in August and usually jumpstarts our cheer season!

Cheerfest: Cheerfest is an annual competition which showcases the girls' cheer and pom routines. The event is usually held at a local high school/vendor. All squads participate; however, the Flag squad is not scored. Both the Colts and Stallions cheerleaders have a long history of Cheerfest wins! This season will be no exception!

Playoffs / Super BowlAt the end of regular season play, teams have the opportunity to advance in a post-season playoff format.

The final two teams from each unit (Flag, Freshman, JV, Varsity) play in the Super Bowl for the title of league champion.

End of Season BanquetOur annual tackle and cheer banquet is a wonderful way to celebrate the kids, coaches, and volunteers.  We share a meal, reflect on the season, present trophies, and spend a little bit of time having some fun together before we say a final goodbye to the season in November.

Our flag teams celebrate their season in a smaller, more age-appropriate event.
